Extrasomatic knowledge

Carl Sagan was the one who introduced me to the concept of “extrasomatic knowledge” through one of his books. As it appears, we have grown as a species due to being able to store knowledge outside of our own heads.

I thought this to be interesting on more than one level: For one, we do discuss a lot how we cannot live without our little pocket computers anymore. Then, there is also the idea of continuing to grow, simply by making ourselves better with the help of technology.
